Highlights from The Liverpool Wedding Show

On the weekend I managed to hop over to The Liverpool Wedding Show for a nosey around at all of the wonderful suppliers. There were all kinds of beautiful handmade trinkets and treasures.
Apart from the catwalk show, the absolute highlight for me had to be the display by Red Floral. This ‘floral architecture’ by Mat Hepplestone absolutely knocks your socks off! To be honest even the stunning photos on the Red Floral website don’t do these flower displays justice. You really have to see it to believe it, but be warned, it takes your breath away and you may be encouraged to spend a small fortune. Here are a few snaps that the Red Floral people were kind enough to allow me to take…

Did you visit The Liverpool Wedding Show this weekend, and if so what was your favourite part of the day? As always I would love to hear from you.

A Unique Gift for Your Paper Anniversary

Happy New Year!!! I hope you’ve all had some amazing celebrations and you have some great plans for the year ahead.
I’ve been struck down with a winter bug these last few days which is why it’s been a bit quiet on the blog. The doctor’s orders were to stay in bed and do absolutely nothing. I couldn’t really refuse that advice now could I. Now that I’m feeling a bit more like myself I have been noseying around the Internet to bring you some unique wedding finds.
On twitter I came across Emma Tysoe who loves baking, gadgets and origami. When I checked out Emma’s origami business I knew I had found a little gem to share on the blog. Check out these incredibly intricate and stunning designs, all made with Emma’s own fair hands…
Every little detail is perfectly matched to your wedding day outfits. What an amazing gift for your paper wedding anniversary. This is without a doubt something that will be treasured forever and a sure conversation starter when your friends see this hanging on your wall.  If you fancy one of these little beauties for yourself or as a gift then you can find all the information on Emma’s website www.papergifts.me.uk.

The Original Wedding Tea Towel

How about this for an amazing alternative to the standard wedding invite – wedding tea towels! I think this is just a fabulous idea and one that your guests can keep for many moons to come. An invite that is not only quirky, making it stand out from all of those other invites – but is actually useful too! You’ll be thinking of Dave and Marie’s wedding while you’re drying the dishes for years! And if you think the special couple are super fantastic you could even frame it and hang it up somewhere.

There are some stunning designs to choose from such as the new ‘Secret Garden’ design above, and they come in a variety of colours. Use them as save the dates, invitations, or favours to say thank you to guests for sharing your special day. You can even have the reverse of the tea towel printed with information about your big day as shown here…

Let wasting paper be a thing of the past. Get eco-friendly and super trendy (there I go being a poet again) with this idea. Find out more by visiting the The Original Wedding Tea Towel website.

Karen, the owner/founder also has a very entertaining style of writing on her blog which gave me a giggle. Check it out here.

My Christmas Highlights

Merry Christmas!!! – A little delayed but I hope you’ve enjoyed the last couple of days, shared some great food, and most importantly, quality time with family and friends. My favourite part was doing a bit of ‘David Baily’ with my younger cousin and taking pictures of anything and everything under the sun. As he is now 14 years old it all became a bit competitive, and the race is now on to produce the best photo from Christmas day (I’m going to win, so nerrr… I’m not childish, honestly). One of the highlights from the day that I caught on camera was this rather amazing trifle made by my Gran. It is topped with lots of little Santas made from strawberries and cream, with chocolate drop eyes. My Aunty thinks that they look like ninja turtles gone wrong but I think it is a wicked effort. The entire trifle was devoured in about 10 minutes flat! It was a good ‘un!
Father Christmas or Ninjas gone wrong?
Everyone seemed to go wild for terrible Christmas jumpers this year didn’t they? As I left my jumper shopping to the last minute I wasn’t able to get anything as wacky as I had hoped. I will continue to wear my jumper through the rest of the winter though, so in that respect it was a bargain.
My Christmas day jumper. To me, from me!

It’s back to work and back to normal now for me. At least until the New Year parties begin. I can’t wait! I need to get a list of resolutions drawn up – something that I do every year. 2014 should hold lots of exciting developments for Handmade & Hitched. Thank you to everyone who has supported the blog so far. I am lucky to have worked with some amazing and talented people.

Lots of Love

P.S. What was the highlight of your Christmas day and did you wear any ridiculous items of clothing?
